Person of the Month: Dr. Julius Demps

The person of the month feature focuses on highlighting and honoring influential individuals who have, and continues to make a difference in our communities, evidenced by some of the most fascinating and unselfish acts of kindness.

Dr. Julius Demps was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL and graduated from William Marion Raines High School in 1989. He earned his B.S. in Sociology with minors in Business and Biology from Florida State University, a Master of Arts in Human Resource Development from Webster University, and a Ph.D. in Education specializing in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University in Prescott, AZ. He is currently serving in his 10th year at Jacksonville University as an Associate Professor of Management in the Davis College of Business at Jacksonville University. He teaches in the traditional undergraduate, Adult Degree, and MBA programs in the college and is most known for his courses in Leadership and Human Resources. His focus has always been on students and can be found participating in various activities on campus from Student Life to Athletics. He also serves on the Student Alumni Advisory Committee in the College of Business and the campus-wide Sexual Harassment Committee. 

 

 

Dr. Demps was named the Jacksonville University Adult Degree Program Professor of the Year in 2007, received the 2007 Best Presenter Award at the International Economics and Business Conference in Miami, FL, was the recipient of the Excellence Award in University Service in 2011-2012 and is Jacksonville University’s only two-time recipient of the Tim Shakespeare Award (2010 & 2016) for outstanding university service; an award voted on by students. Julius is also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Multidisciplinary Collegiate Honor Society, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
